In 2009, SMTP received another award under its belt, as a Cluster School, with niche areas in Marching & Entrepreneurship. The SMTP Police Cadet troop won the District Level Marching Competition in 2010. The school also received 7 awards from the Technical and Vocational Education Division due to its excellent achievements in the 2010 SPM examination. SMTP is the only school in Malaysia that acts as a learning centre for User Business System (UBS), a course on accounting software that is offered to students of this school and to the public.

In 2013, due to a transformation in the educational policy, SMTP became Kolej Vokasional Perdagangan, Johor Bahru (KVPJB) and since then, Kolej Vokasional Perdagangan, Johor Bahru has offered 4 different diploma courses which are, Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in Business Administration, Diploma in Administrative Secretarial and Diploma in Management System and Web Application Technology. The transformation saw a change in KVPJB Cluster school niche area, maintaining Entrepreneurship but shifting to Civil Defense Cadets (Kadet Pertahanan Awam), encompassing more areas of a uniform body to be explored. Regardless of the name-change, KV Perdagangan does not stop its pursuit of glory. Among our achievements are; First runner-up in the 2018 National Level Inter-Technical School/ Vocational College uniform body competition , Champion in the District Level Business Plan Competition, Second runner-up in the State Level Young Entrepreneur Strive for Success Competition & recently, one of our ICT students emerged Champion in the National Level KV Skills Competition.

To date, “Dagang” has produced three graduating cohorts. Each cohort has seen more than 80% employment rate among its graduates. It may not be a stellar achievement, but it is hoped that more success stories & budding entrepreneurs would bloom among our present & future graduates.
